In recent years, the influence of governance mechanisms on innovation decisions has grown considerably. In this context, the aim of this book is to link these two fields of research by reviewing the literature on governance and innovation, and the interrelation between the two. The aim is to present the state of the art in these fields, to outline the foundations and theoretical and empirical models that support the interaction between governance and innovation, and to suggest new avenues for reflection and empirical research. Innovation is also examined from a number of angles: new perspectives on the governance of innovation, the governance of information technologies (IT) and digital data (Big Data), business intelligence, the role of governance in the strategic alignment of IT, the risks associated with innovation and digital technologies, the allocation of decision-making power in innovation, governance in the adoption and implementation of innovation, the monitoring of innovation-induced change and consideration of stakeholders' expectations of innovation.
