This book presents the joint reflections of academics, entrepreneurs, practitioners and policy-makers with an interest in entrepreneurship, and explores the role they can collectively play in developing entrepreneurial activity to reorient African economies. It proposes solutions to the problems hindering the creation, growth and sustainability of SMEs. These include access to credit and project finance, access to suppliers and markets, growth management, weak governance, skills development and training. Finally, the book provides tools for developing more effective, appropriate and integrated approaches to supporting SMEs and entrepreneurship.
Alain Kouadio is an entrepreneur of Ivorian nationality and Chairman of the KAYDAN Group, which groups together KaydanRealstate, a real estate development company, the KaydanRealstate PCC investment fund, and Beta West Africa, a real estate construction company. Vice-Chairman of the Ivorian employers' association between 2012 and 2016, he is also Chairman of SICOR (Société ivoirienne de coco râpé), a BRVM-listed company.nAlain Kouadio received the Grand Prix de l'entrepreneur in 2018 and 2019, and was made Commandeur dans l'Ordre du Mérite National in June 2019, for his discreet action in the service of the business world and entrepreneurship in Côte d'Ivoire.
Media man and academic, Félix Zogning is Professor at the Université de Sherbrooke. His research interests include the performance of listed companies, mergers and acquisitions, the governance mechanisms of private and public organizations and their impact on performance, and the internationalization of SMEs. For several years now, he has been involved in setting up entrepreneurship programs in sub-Saharan Africa and upgrading SMEs to improve their competitiveness.
