The aim of this book is to provide adult writers with the conceptual tools they need to identify and correct linguistic errors of all kinds (coherence, lexicon, syntax, punctuation, spelling) in their written work. It presents a description of the language, using the analysis tools currently in use in Quebec classrooms, as well as the main rules codifying the standard of French, and offers exercises to apply these concepts, accompanied by answer keys.
Cette édition comprend des mises à jour notables, notamment l’ajout de nouvelles règles grammaticales adaptées à l’évolution de la langue et aux rectifications de l’orthographe.
Pascale Lefrançois has been a professor in the Department of Didactics at Université de Montréal since 2000. She has held the position of Vice-Rector, Student Affairs and Studies since 2022. For nearly 25 years, she taught and coordinated the compulsory written French course in all initial teacher training programs at the Université de Montréal. Since 2013, she has chaired the scientific oversight committee for the TECFÉE, the certification test in written French for teaching. She has also worked on the mastery of written language from primary to post-secondary levels. She is regularly consulted by the media and the Quebec Ministry of Education on various issues relating to the teaching and learning of writing and the French language in general.
