Staff who have to meet the high educational needs of some young people in complex situations that are often unfamiliar or difficult to understand, can feel helpless and isolated. These young people are particularly in need of resource people from a variety of backgrounds (education, community, health and social services, employment). The professional skills required to work with young people in complex situations, particularly those relating to collaboration, are more easily developed when they are contextualized. This is what prompted a team comprising Pauline Beaupré, Josianne Caron, Sylvain Letscher, Edith Jolicoeur, Julie Beaulieu (Université du Québec à Rimouski) and Camille Gauthier-Boudreault (Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières) to use authentic stories and images to enrich teacher training with a diversity of students. The result was the co-development of nine pedagogical stories based on interviews with young people and illustrated by Luca Jalbert of Cabro*Productions. Aimed at anyone involved in educating and accompanying young people in complex situations, the illustrated pedagogical stories address different life paths and transitions. Without hiding the pitfalls of school and social inclusion, they highlight ways of working together to support young people and those around them.
