This book presents a typology of remedial service models for students with disabilities, i.e. those often, but not necessarily, referred to as handicapped students or students with learning or adjustment difficulties (EHDAA), schooled in a context of inclusion or school integration. This is a reissue of the two previous versions of the bookSchool integration of special needs students: a typology of service models(published by Éditions Nouvelles in 2003 and 2005), to which are added sections that present the links between the organization of remedial service models and the response to intervention, as well as the place of service, transition, action and intervention plans in this context.
Although this book is aimed primarily at special education students, it is likely to be of interest to practising teachers, remedial educators and other non-teaching professionals, as well as school administrators wishing to reflect on the models of complementary educational services offered to their students with disabilities. Here, we offer some guidelines and food for thought to help clarify the modalities, advantages and limitations of offering remedial or other complementary educational services, as well as general considerations for the development of intervention programs.
