Transportation solutions are the main issue facing companies involved in international trade. Since the cost of transport represents more or less 20% of the EXW value of the goods shipped, companies wishing to optimize their operations naturally turn to transport solutions.
In a world where managers must ensure a competitive offer in all circumstances, contribute to the creation of value and ensure the long-term viability of their company, transport-related activities are becoming an increasingly important part of the commercial approach. Indeed, transporting goods across customs borders inevitably depends on imperatives linked to international transactions, such as delivery times, selling price on arrival, corporate image and credibility, etc.
The aim of this handbook is to answer the questions of students considering a career in international transport and logistics. It puts the reality of today's companies into perspective and highlights their diversity. From a pedagogical point of view, the process of acquiring skills will enable the reader to identify different situations and choose the appropriate transport solution(s), while paying particular attention to the needs of the company and its customers, without neglecting the quality of the shipment.
