The graphic design kit offers teachers and students a set of workshops, tools, and resources for practicing social design in elementary school. This kit will help students become more aware of socially engaged art as a way to express themselves and articulate their opinions on a current social issue. Through their individual and collective voices, they will contribute to innovation and change.

Catherine Nadon, Ph.D., is a professor of visual arts education at the Université du Québec en Outaouais. She holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in art history (UQAM) and a bachelor’s and Ph.D. in education (University of Ottawa); her research interests focus on the teaching and learning of aesthetic experience, primarily in the context of contemporary art. She is also interested in the postmodern paradigm in education as well as the relationship between contemporary artists and educational settings. Before becoming a professor, she taught art history at the college level (Cégep de l’Outaouais, La Cité) and was in charge of educational services at a contemporary art center. She has also served as an exhibition curator, notably for the second edition of Orange, Saint-Hyacinthe’s contemporary art event.
Valérie Yobé, Ph.D., holds a doctorate in semiotics and is an associate professor of graphic design at the École multidisciplinaire de l’image (ÉMI) at the Université du Québec en Outaouais, where she has been teaching since 2001. Valérie Yobé promotes practice and research-creation in graphic design, with a particular focus on design for social innovation. In 2013, she was awarded the title of Certified Graphic Designer (DGA) by the Société des designers graphiques du Québec (SDGQ), and in 2019, she received the title of Registered Graphic Designer (RGD) from the Association of Registered Graphic Designers of Canada (RGD). In 2014, she founded the nonprofit organization La Tribu Grafik. Through curatorial activities, fostering collaborations among practitioners, critical reflection, and hosting workshops—both locally and internationally—la tribu grafik conceives and produces research and creative projects that reimagine the uses of graphic design, break down barriers between disciplines, and drive social and cultural innovation.
