Le Guide pratique pour une approche par ateliers au primaire is a book for primary school teachers who want to try or develop workshop-based teaching in their classrooms. The book brings together a variety of ideas to give you the opportunity to choose and try out different methods that meet your needs and those of your students. An entire chapter is devoted to setting up the workshop approach. Then, rather like the 3-level RAI approach, 3 tiered workshop models are presented, depending on the teacher's comfort level. The great thing about this approach is that several components can be integrated into it. In the various sections of the book, many explanations and examples are given to illustrate how you can differentiate, assess, develop your students' autonomy and much more, all while using workshops in your classroom. Also, as with any teaching method, some minor irritants may arise. A ton of possible solutions are listed. Finally, several downloadable tools are included. This book is designed for any teacher, regardless of years of experience or classroom reality.
It was in 2012 that primary school teacher Karine Deschatelets created her blog "La classe de Karine". What she calls "her little page" now acts as a long-distance colleague for primary school teachers in Quebec and across the French-speaking world. Tips, strategies, ideas and teaching materials have been shared for over 10 years. After teaching 6th, 4th, multi-level 4th and 5th grades, Karine is now a 5th grade teacher. She is also the volunteer vice-president of the Association des enseignants du primaire du Québec (AQEP). She's always on the lookout for new ideas and is actively involved in her professional development. Karine keeps up to date with the latest research and evidence in education. In 2021, the Guide pratique pour une rentrée réussie, a book packed with strategies for planning a successful back-to-school experience, was published. She is also involved in professional integration at the school service center where she works, providing training for new teachers. She also gives talks to student teachers on a variety of subjects, including workshops.
