This book aims to support teachers in the implementation of the foundational competency Acting as a mediator of elements of culture. It begins with conceptual and reflective milestones on education, culture and their interrelation. It then offers concrete pedagogical guidelines for integrating a cultural approach into teaching in a rigorous, meaningful and stimulating way. A variety of resources, activities, discussion guides and pedagogical practices from primary and secondary classrooms complete this didactic essay.
Annie Turbide has over 20 years' experience in the Quebec school system. She is currently working with RÉCIT as a pedagogical consultant. She is particularly interested in the contribution of digital tools to the updating of the pedagogical act, and in the challenges that the digital era presents for the role of Quebec schools.
She holds a master's degree in religious studies with a concentration in feminist studies, as well as a doctorate in educational sciences, and is a visiting professor at the Université du Québec à Montréal. She has written a number of teaching and school books, as well as an illustrated poetic narrative and children's albums. Her research interests focus on didactics, dialogue, feminism and the mediation of cultural elements in the classroom.
