The exercise of clinical judgment requires all professionals working in mental health to develop analytical skills that enable them to respond increasingly to the needs of people presenting complex problems.
In this book, the author proposes an integrated model for reading interaction that highlights a zone of educational interaction. It is by reading what happens within this zone that the professional can support his or her clinical judgment. This integrated model is based on recognized theoretical models, and attempts to reconfigure certain founding concepts in psychoeducation. In addition, the author suggests a psychodevelopmental reading of the maladjustment situation, highlighting the factors interacting in the person's past or present history.
The book is aimed primarily at practicing professionals, as well as trainers and students enrolled in the Master's program in psychoeducation. The author presents case analyses, practical exercises and examples of evaluation reports. All of this is designed to help professionals understand complex issues requiring a multi-factorial and multi-level approach.
Suzanne Manningham obtained her doctorate in psychology from the Université de Montréal in 2009. Prior to her doctoral studies, she worked for 25 years as a psychoeducator with children and adolescents living with severe behavioral disorders, as well as with their families. Today, she is a full professor at Université Laval. She directed the psychoeducation programs there from 2011 to 2016.
