The book is the result of several contributions on the modern state. At the heart of each contribution is the issue of domination and resistance, based on empirical case studies from around the world. It attempts to answer two important questions: how are the logics of domination and resistance articulated in the modern state? In other words, how do forms of domination condition manifestations of resistance, and vice versa?
The volume opens up new horizons for rethinking the modern state and renewing reflection on resistance to it. The book looks at the different forms of domination and resistance, as a subject that is always topical.
