This guide to empowerment through delegation has been developed to serve as a basis for discussion in professional training sessions, and is intended as a pedagogical training tool for reflection on the practical realities of today's organizations. The guide takes the form of a series of summary sheets that ask the reader to constantly diagnose the quality of his or her group's efforts to empower through delegation. In this way, readers gain a better understanding of their own management and delegation styles, as well as their attitudes towards people. They will also be able to profile their own ability to delegate, as well as that of their colleagues and their company.
The guide includes numerous individual questionnaires, practical exercises and descriptions of management and decision-making situations, designed to help each reader establish his or her own portfolio of competencies in terms of empowerment and delegation. These individual exercises are followed by brief theoretical presentations aimed at clarifying the concepts that will enable the reader to improve his or her delegation skills, thanks to a more accurate diagnosis of the ways in which he or she delegates, and of his or her behaviors before and at the time of delegation. These varied exercises and presentations will also help you to revise and perfect your knowledge, techniques and ways of doing and being, when you decide to give more responsibility to your colleagues.
