This collection of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) is intended for future specialists in human movement who wish to better master the fundamentals of biomechanics and its applications, regardless of their educational background. It is, in fact, a supplement to current biomechanics courses. Aspiring biomechanics specialists will be able to assess their understanding and test their skills in various areas of biomechanics, such as posture, balance, walking, jumping, aerial movements, swimming, as well as measurement techniques involving devices such as force platforms and video camera systems. This book is divided into two volumes comprising 36 chapters with a total of nearly 1,200 multiple-choice questions, about one-third of which are essay questions. The first volume, titled «Tag This Biomechanics Book,» covers the basic concepts needed to estimate muscle forces. The second volume covers the applications of biomechanics; it is titled «Tag This Biomechanics Book Again.» All answers are provided in detail at the end of the respective chapters. Each question is designed so that the correct answer can be identified from among three to six plausible distractors. In drafting these multiple-choice questions, we drew on the lessons we have learned.
Georges Dalleau is University Professor in the STAPS department at the Université de la Réunion. His teaching focuses on human biomechanics, functional anatomy and ergometry. His main areas of research are postural balance and muscular function, in relation to performance and health.
Mickaël Begon is a full professor at the School of Kinesiology and Physical Activity Sciences at the University of Montreal. His teaching focuses on biomechanics in physical education and dynamic modeling. His research focuses on shoulder biomechanics—from prevention to rehabilitation—and the simulation of acrobatic movements.
Paul Allard is a full professor at the Université de Montréal's School of Kinesiology and Physical Activity Sciences. In addition to teaching biomechanics and anatomy at the undergraduate level, his research activities focus on posture and locomotion in young people and adults with reduced mobility.
