This book is the result of many years of experience teaching integral calculus to students in the Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Science, Liberal Arts and Humanities, and Social Sciences programs.
This book has two main objectives:
• First, eliminate all abstractions to promote a deep understanding of concepts using the definition-example-exercise method;
• Second, strike a judicious balance between mathematical rigor and problem-solving.
The first module is devoted to introducing the concepts of definite and indefinite integrals and numerical integration, as well as presenting the fundamental theorem of integration.
The second module covers integration techniques and applications such as calculating volumes, areas, and lengths.
Finally, the third module is primarily devoted to the study of sequences and their applications.
Each of the 25 lessons provides a clear, concise introduction—without too much theory—to the essential concepts needed to learn integral calculus and its applications in the natural sciences.
Numerous worked examples allow students to practice and deepen their understanding of the concepts they have learned.
