This book presents a financial simulation of growth through acquisitions. By working through this case study, you will be able to model and demonstrate the feasibility of a strategic plan for a corporate acquisition. Through this case study, the authors cover all aspects of growth through acquisitions, such as financial forecasts, cash flow budgets, projected financial statements, goodwill, corporate financing, the calculation of the cost of capital, and the determination of the fair market value of the company’s shares.
For this financial simulation, it is necessary to use a financial projection generator that can, at a minimum, calculate the fair market value of a company’s common stock. We strongly recommend purchasing the Planipro software, as the process and proposed solutions will be based on this decision-making tool. The electronic version of the financial simulation is available for free online at: planipro.net/simulation
By the end of this synthesis exercise, students, teachers, consultants, and financial managers will have mastered the process of modeling a strategic financial plan using software designed to meet the needs of small and medium-sized businesses.
