Is the BM (Business Model) destined to change the world of strategists, just like the figures and representations that have become emblematic of the field of strategy, which the Harvard Business Review inventoried in its December 2011 issue to kick off its 90th anniversary celebrations?eanniversary? How should we interpret the popularity of the business model? Does it reflect a need to synthesize the multitude and diversity of strategy tools?
In 2011, we got together for a first round-table discussion at AIMS in Nantes on the theme of "what is" the BM. What do you know about "what the BM does"? When we left Nantes, we agreed that another round-table discussion on the business model was in order, this time to look at the BM in practice, in situation, in context of use. What can we learn from the use of the BM tool? By practitioners? By students? What does the BM teach us and how is it taught? And how do we look critically at this tool and its teaching? This is the second in our series of workshops on the BM concept.
