This book presents the most widely used client-side web technologies: HTML, HTML5, CSS, CSS3, JavaScript and JQquery. They are presented in a step-by-step manner and illustrated with concrete examples.
The HTML language has undergone several evolutions and versions. These are presented in this book so that the reader can see the evolution and understand the content of existing web pages. HTML5, the latest known version of HTML, is then presented in detail at the end of the book, to enable the creation of modern web sites.
To use style sheets, we present the elements of CSS version 2 and end with the CSS3 version. This latest version, which is much richer, is increasingly used in today's web pages.
HTML5 and CSS3 are the two building blocks for web pages that support multimedia and animation. These aspects are illustrated in this book with several concrete examples.
We also introduce JavaScript and jQuery, which are languages that can be used to add interesting functionalities to web pages, such as dialog elements, animation and so on. They are also presented with a number of practical examples.
Finally, this book is the first volume to focus on client-side website development. The second volume will deal with server-side development techniques.
