In this report dedicated to SMEs in the French-speaking world, the Observatoire de la Francophonie économique (OFÉ) explores the opportunities for these businesses to access global markets and reap the benefits of international trade. The report identifies the challenges and obstacles to be overcome, and makes recommendations that could have a positive and lasting impact on the deployment of French-speaking SMEs on the international stage. By combining the views of economists, managers, sociologists, anthropologists, political scientists, lawyers, businessmen and women, and economic and socio-cultural players, the authors envisage new possibilities that will facilitate the transformation of the structure of SMEs in the French-speaking world, and project them unashamedly into new markets.
Without claiming to be exhaustive, and taking advantage of the enrichment offered by multi-disciplinarity and the diversity of fields covered by studies on SMEs, the members of the scientific committee have focused on seven main themes for this study: understanding the French-speaking SME ecosystem; public policy in SME internationalization efforts; financing and private investment in a globalized context; inclusion and professional insertion through entrepreneurship; sustainable development and corporate social responsibility; e-commerce and artificial intelligence; access to international markets and integration into value chains.Désiré AVOM, Dean, Faculty of Economics and Management, University of Yaoundé II (Cameroon)
