Vilma Imilce Páez Pérez holds a PhD in Educational Sciences and is a full professor in the English Language Department and researcher at the Center for Culture and Identity Studies at the University of Holguín (Cuba). Her research interests focus on the training and professional development of foreign language teachers, the development of professional skills and the relationship between language-culture-identity. She is also interested in the situation of women in education and health, female leadership in higher education and the role of women in science. She is President of the Center for Canadian Studies at the University of Holguín. She works with Canadian academics on a number of exchange programs.
