This book presents examples of projects showcasing culture in Canada's French-speaking regions. Much of the literature on arts and culture management comes from the Anglo-Saxon world, often focusing on cultural organizations located in large urban centers. This book therefore seeks to highlight cultural initiatives in Canada's French-speaking regions. Each chapter was written by a team or duo of authors, one from the academic world and one from the cultural world. In this way, the chapters highlight concrete initiatives while conceptualizing them in a theoretical context.
The first section of the book looks at cultural policies and service organizations that develop culture in the regions. The second section presents the case of three artist-run centers or cultural organizations that stand out for their innovative practices. The third section examines the case of regional broadcasting organizations, while the fourth looks at the preservation of memory and heritage in the regions.
Julie Bérubé is a doctoral student in the Joint Program in Administration at HEC Montréal.
