For several decades, in almost every area of law, Canada and Quebec have been witnessing a shift from a culture of litigation to a culture of agreement. An introduction to the theory and practice of dispute resolution provides readers - particularly French-speaking legal advisors - with essential skills for choosing the best way to help clients resolve their disputes through the lens of participatory justice. The aim of this book is to equip people to reach a creative and meaningful agreement. Although this book focuses on the legal context, the analysis is framed critically and within an interdisciplinary framework in conjunction with research in political science, management, psychology, social work, economics, anthropology, sociology and industrial relations.
Suzanne Bouclin is a full professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa. She teaches dispute resolution, social justice and human rights. Her award-winning research also focuses on the intersection of law and popular culture.
