The last two years have reminded schools of the need to adapt to a world hit by increasingly regular crises. They have, of necessity, shaped the emergence of a \"new educational normal\". In light of the physical and mental health issues raised in the daily lives of highly destabilized school populations, this troubled period, a source of fundamental questions about life, democracy and the exercise of freedom, has catapulted to the forefront the challenges of appropriating digital education and distance learning, which were still emerging until then, without failing to question the place allocated to physical education in schools, as well as the limits of the dominant educational models it promotes. Unique in the French-speaking world, Enseigner l'\u00e9ducation physique en contexte scolaire is the fruit of a major international collaboration. The 25 original contributions presented in this book are organized around five major themes, all of which are as topical as they are essential, wherever the reader may be on the professional development continuum: 1) Becoming a physical education teacher; 2) Programming and establishing conditions conducive to learning in physical education; 3) Plurality of school audiences and inclusion in physical education; 4) Diversity of intervention objects in physical education; and 5) Accompanying the next generation of physical education teachers. Because physical education teachers are highly influential players in the academic careers of both students and those who aspire to a career in this discipline, each of the contributions presented aims to enrich their initial and in-service training, as well as their interventions in schools and in the field of teacher training. All also aim to support the ambassadorial role that these teachers can play with other key school players, to the benefit of this crossroads discipline that is too often devalued and whose socio-scholastic relevance is periodically reconsidered at the whim of dominant ideologies and games of influence. Finally, each of the chapters contained in this book hopes to open up the reader's perspectives and invite him or her to take an active part in repositioning physical education as a demarcation from the \"industrial era school model\", which has reached the end of its life and which also needs to be rethought in favor of an education equal to the challenges of the 21st century.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
