The first part familiarizes the reader with the basic concepts used in the literature on large firms. In addition to characterizing the entrepreneurs who run SMEs, this part bridges the gap between what is usually read in management textbooks and what is presented in this manual. Then, through the primary functions (sales\/customer service, production\/logistics and marketing), we explain how each of these theories influences the SME on a day-to-day basis and can influence its growth. The final section focuses on the support functions (administration\/finance, human resources management and information technology) and the theories presented in this book. Packed with examples from successful SMEs, this book is as much for the student as for the entrepreneur who wants to compete with big business.
