Sylvie Viola, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Educational Pedagogy at the Université du Québec à Montréal. She has been teaching the course on general pedagogy and teaching models in elementary education, as well as the course on professional development portfolios, for over 20 years. Her areas of specialization and research interests focus primarily on instructional planning, active learning approaches—including experiential learning, project-based learning, and strategic teaching. From the learners’ perspective, she is interested in metacognition, reflective analysis, and oral literacy in elementary school and in initial teacher education.
